The early cartoons were from "Weird Cartoons, Vol. 2" from Rhino Home Video
The early-cartoon tobacco references connotate "adult behavior", but the hookah-smoking catterpillar doesn't seem to mind smoking up little Alice and telling her to eat mushrooms.
As well, Bakshi seemed to accurately display the difference between weed and coke heads. And hey kids, always take it easy on the nyborg ... no interstellar impaired driving.
